چکیده

Given a complete graph Kn = (V, E), with edge weight ce on each edge, we consider the problem of partitioning the vertices of graph Kn into subcliques that each have at least S vertices, so as to minimize the total weight of the edges that have both endpoints in the same subclique. It is an extension of the classic Clique Partition Problem that can be well solved using triangle inequalities, but the additional size requirement here makes it much harder to solve. The previously known inequalities are not good enough to solve even a small size problem within a reasonable amount of time. In this paper, we’ll discuss the polyhedral structure and introduce new kinds of cutting planes: pigeon cutting planes and flower cutting planes. We will report the computational results with a branch-and-cut algorithm confirming the strength of these new cutting planes.

Computing Multiplicative Zagreb Indices with Respect to Chromatic and Clique Numbers

The chromatic number of a graph G, denoted by χ(G), is the minimum number of colors such that G can be colored with these colors in such a way that no two adjacent vertices have the same color. A clique in a graph is a set of mutually adjacent vertices. The maximum size of a clique in a graph G is called the clique number of G. The Turán graph Tn(k) is a complete k-partite graph whose partition...

Branch-and-price-and-cut on the clique partitioning problem with minimum clique size requirement

On the complexity of edge-colored subgraph partitioning problems in network optimization

Network models allow one to deal with massive data sets using some standard concepts from graph theory. Understanding and investigating the structural properties of a certain data set is a crucial task in many practical applications of network optimization. Recently, labeled network optimization over colored graphs has been extensively studied. Given a (not necessarily properly) edge-colored gr...

Clique coverings and partitions of line graphs

A clique in a graph G is a complete subgraph of G. A clique covering (partition) of G is a collection C of cliques such that each edge of G occurs in at least (exactly) one clique in C. The clique covering (partition) number cc(G) (cp(G)) of G is the minimum size of a clique covering (partition) of G. This paper gives alternative proofs, using a unified approach, for the results on the clique c...

A PTAS for Minimum Clique Partition in Unit Disk Graphs

We consider the problem of partitioning the set of vertices of a given unit disk graph (UDG) into a minimum number of cliques. The problem is NP-hard and various constant factor approximations are known, with the current best ratio of 3. Our main result is a polynomial time approximation scheme (PTAS) for this problem on UDG. In fact, we present a robust algorithm that given a graph G (not nece...
